September 27, 2024 Dear Parents/Guardian,

Building a sense of community in our classroom encourages students to be active members of their own learning. One way I found to be a very effective way to build a classroom community is through music. Music is a universal language that breaks down barriers and improves cognitive development, improves memory and makes learning a new language a little less difficult.

I use a lot of music in the class, and I would like to create a playlist on Spotify (a free downloadable application) to represent who we are. Therefore, I would like suggestions of songs your child likes to sing (in any language) and I will create a playlist with these songs.

It is extremely important that the songs do not contain language or innuendoes that is not appropriate for a child. Once you give me the name of the song and the author, I will ensure that it is an appropriate song and then place it in our Spotify Playlist.

There are currently three songs in the playlist, two we have already learned, and one is my favorite song. If you have Spotify downloaded, look for Ms. Grasso playlist titled, “This is Us! 3-200 24/25”. Please DO NOT add songs to the playlist

Meet the Teacher - September 12, 2024

 

Dear Parents/Guardians, 

 On Thursday, September 12, 2024, the school is hosting a Parent Information Night. 

It is this evening where you will get an opportunity to meet all your child’s teacher and find out information about the class. 

 I will have two presentations where we will meet online using Google Meet: https://meet.google.com/zpv-cpqu-wmt 

 The first presentation will be at 4:30 – 5:15 and the second at 6:00-6:45 4:30-5:15 

The cluster teachers will have their sessions at: 5:15-6:00 and 6:45-7:30.   

My presentation will be posted on our Google Homeroom. Sign in with your child’s email address and password to go to the Google Classroom Homeroom. If you child did not join the class, please join class to view the presentation. The class code for the Google Homeroom is https://classroom.google.com/c/Njk2NTk2MjUzODQ5?cjc=tcbc523 

 The music teacher Mrs. Galatioto and the dance teacher, Ms. Bittner will also have a Google Classroom set up. The code is forthcoming.

Welcome to Class 3-200

 

Dear Parents and Guardians,

Welcome to the new school year! I’m delighted to have your child join our third-grade class! As we embark on this exciting journey together, I look forward to a year filled with growth, learning, and memorable experiences.

In third grade, students will delve into a variety of subjects, enhancing their skills in reading, writing, mathematics (specifically multiplications and fractions) science, and social studies. Our curriculum is designed to foster a love of learning, encourage curiosity, and build a strong foundation for future academic success.

Communication is key to a successful school year, and value your partnership. Throughout the year, we will keep you informed about classroom activities, important dates, and your child’s progress through tests posted in our Google Classroom and parent-teacher conferences. Please feel free to reach out to me with any questions or concerns. Your involvement and support are greatly appreciated.

To help your child have a smooth transition into third grade, here are a few important details: 

 1. School Hours: Our school day begins at 8:10am and ends at 2:30pm Please ensure your child arrives on time and is picked up promptly. 

 2. Supplies: A list of required school supplies has been sent home. If you need another copy, please let me know. 

 3. Homework: Homework will be assigned regularly to reinforce classroom learning. We encourage you to establish a consistent homework routine and provide a quiet space for your child to complete their assignments.
